If you ever wonder if Daylesford is worth visiting. I would say It should be in your top 10 destinations that you should travel within Victoria. Its beautiful, It is filled with luxury accommodation, good food, good coffee and welcoming community.
We went to Daylesford for 2 days, which is one night and we were able to cover most of the must do activities in Daylesford.
Daylesford Luxury Accommodation
Average cost per night $960 per room (2 adults) including Dinner and breakfast.
We stayed at the lake house in Daylesford. It is one of the most beautiful locations in Daylesford and I recommend to spend your bucks staying at this beautiful hotel. If you are looking for a luxury getaway this will be the perfect luxury accommodation at daylesford.
The stay here was absolutely amazing and when you book the hotel, it will be a package including dinner, breakfast and the stay. So I guarantee that the money will be well worth it.
From the time you enter the hotel you will be well looked after, they will look after you and plan your dinner time, breakfast time, all you have to do is relax.
Book the Waterfront pool suite if you can, so you have straight access to the pool, have some cocktails by the pool and relax in the evening. Just before the 2 hat restaurant dinner.Doesn’t this sound exciting already??? wait there is more!!!
2 day itenary at Daylesford
We booked the hotel first because it was my husband’s 30th birthday then planned a trip to Daylesford. We decided the destination because of the hotel and restaurant. Definitely there were great reviews about this place hence why I decided to book the hotel.
8.00 a.m We left Melbourne early in the morning because we wanted to cover off everything in daylesford on that day.
Cliffy’s Daylesford
10.30 a.m We planned breakfast at cliffy’s,beautiful little cafe serving good breakfast and brunch options. (you don’t need reservations for outside dining) Definitely order the croque monsieur, that one was my favourite, but since there is a full itenary of eating, I opted for a lighter breaky, which was the egg benny and my husband got the croque monsieur (Average spend $50 for two people)
11.30 a.m We went straight to passing clouds winery to do a wine tasting. beautiful location and great wine. It’s basically wine tasting with a view, it’s a $10 charge for wine tasting but if you buy a bottle that fee is waived, we definitely got couple of wine bottles.
12.30 p.m we went straight to Daylesford cider which was a cider brewery and they do a tasting paddle which is $15 per paddle, just get one paddles,as there is a lot of ciders to taste and share.
1.00 p.m We went straight to wombat hill botanical gardens and did some sightseeing. So this park is a bit confusing, there is a restaurant and around that, there is a park. We parked the car near the tower, went inside the tower and climbed upstairs to see the view, then walked around the garden which is where you can find the wombat statues. you will need this walk before lunch 
2.00 p.m Lunch at wombat hill house, I don’t recommend this restaurant for its food, as the food was very average but the atmosphere is quiet nice and since we were visiting the gardens we decided to have lunch as well (Average $50 for 2 people)
Convent gallery Daylesford
3.00 p.m Visited convent gallery in Daylesford, this should definitely be in your agenda, it is an old convent that is transformed into a museum and cafe now, its $5 per person entry. It is definitely worth it. They will give you a map and follow the signs and have a tour of your own, there is boards everywhere to explain what each room, item represents, which is very exciting.
3.30 p.m Coffee and cake at the convent gallery, I did warn you there was going to be a lot of food involved so don’t fill up yourselves hahaha definitely have some cake and coffee at the convent to finish off sightseeing at Daylesford.
4.00 p.m Check in at the hotel Lakehouse
After check in at the hotel you can have a afternoon swim at the infinity pool and relax before dinner
6.30 p.m Definitely go for sunset cocktails by the lagoon where you can enjoy some cocktails while looking at the sunset.
7.30 p.m you will be accompanied to the restaurant where you begin your 4-course degustation menu.
Daylesford restaurants
There is a few good restaurants in Daylesford victoria, but if you are staying at the Lakehouse hotel, then definitely book the restaurant for dinner as it is included in the package. For breakfast try cliffy’s in Melbourne, for lunch try Wombat hill botanical cafe and for afternoon tea, The convent Gallery.
Next day
Get up early in the morning and see the sunrise, you can see it from your room, then go for breakfast where you will be served either a buffet or ala carte menu.Due to COVID, it was an alacarte menu for us. After breakfast have a take away coffee and walk around the lake, which is a must, this will take around 45 mins in total, after our walk around the lake we checked out and headed to Trentham Falls.
Trentham falls
This is a beautiful waterfall call Trentham falls. It’s a short walk towards the viewing platform, they have now closed the road to go to the bottom of the waterfall, in spite of the track being closed many did walk down to the waterfall, which we didn’t do, as it was dangerous.
Hanging rock
After trentham falls, we went straight to hanging rock, this will be quite a hike towards the top. It will take around 1 hour to get to the top of the rock, definitely wear comfy shoes that are fit for purpose, because the rocks are a bit slippery as well. Go to the top and take some insta worthy pictures. the view from the top is breathtaking.
Hanging rock winery
Hanging rock winery has a beautiful view, definitely visit this winery and do a wine tasting, there is no cost involved for wine tasting. After an amazing wine tasting, we headed straight home which is when our amazing holiday to Daylesford ended.
